| David was a little bit nervous if he was honest, they were just waiting in the hotel room and praying that the damned creatures didn't show up and start eating them or something stupid like that. According to Absolon, most people had canaries or radios for when the darkness was coming and going but they had neither so they just had to hold tight for the moment.
He swallowed thickly and went to go back to the bed when he heard something.
Curious, he moved right up next to the door to the room and pressed his ear to the crack to try and get a better idea of what he was hearing. It was faint but it was clear what it was as soon as he thought about it,
"You wanna see?"
It was barely above a whisper but the voice, though rather raspy, was quite obviously human. He turned to Absolon and gestured for her to come over,
"Absolon..." he paused before speaking quietly, "I think there's a person out there. They... they're speaking and asking if we want to see something. Or maybe there's two people out there? I don't know, can the creature imitate humans?"

| Absolon was just sitting patiently, quietly, and she didn't think that she could be in a safer place until the darkness had come and gone, with so many rooms in the hotel it would be almost impossible for a creature to tell that they were here unless they started making loads of noise. Which they weren't about to do any time soon. Biting her lip as she plaited and unplaited her hair, she did not expect David to hear something outside of the room.
Immediately it struck her as a really bad idea to go outside, the darkness was still upon them and it could be some form of creature, that being said they could always go outside and have a little peak and see if it was another human. After all being stuck outside on your own in the darkness was no way to go, it would be so scary.
"I haven't heard a creature actually speak before..." she whispered softly "But I don't feel good about going outside, can you see anything through the hotel's peep hole? Just in case it is a creature, we don't want to give ourselves away."
Gathering up some things from the hotel room, just in case they needed to make a break for it if the thing outside was a creature and heard them talking, Absolon bit her lip harder, pressing her ear against the door as well. She too could hear the almost rasping voice of the man outside, and became nervous again.
It didn't sound like anyone she knew.

| David was beginning to lose a lot of the relief that he had begun to feel because of the presence of someone else who wasn't a creature. After all, just because it would speak, didn't mean that it wasn't a creature too after all. They were incredibly strange and diverse creatures, who was to say that one of them wasn't going to be able to talk? He nodded in agreement,
"Alright, I'll check through the peep hole." he agreed quietly as he looked down at her, "If it's a creature we just back away slowly from the door alright?"
Taking a deep breath, David moved himself upward and took a brief look through the peek-hole. It startled him for a moment that there was a person stood in the middle of the corridor, looking at the numbers on the room doors apparently. The person was dressed in a large coat and a top hat so he couldn't see a face. He smiled slightly and turned to Absolon,
"It sure looks like a person." he told her, gesturing to the peep-hole, "Take a look... it looks like the person got wrapped up against the darkness."
He paused for a moment as he helped collect the stuff they had,
"Should we try and talk to them?"

| Absolon waited with baited breath as David looked down the corridor through the peep hole, it was one of the longest moments of her life waiting to see if she was going to have to fight for her life with David away from this new creature, this new creature who could do anything. Or, if she was going to make a new friend, it seemed to be the season for that lately.
As soon as she heard that it looked like a human Absolon relaxed, after all not many of the creatures had the presence to look human without some large defining feature that screamed that they couldn't possibly be human.
"Well that is comforting, there aren't many creatures I know that look human, and I certainly don't know any that can talk...and so I think we should go out and see if they need any help." she whispered softly.
Standing up to look through the peephole herself, Absolon hummed softly, it certainly did look like a human was standing there, the clothes were a bit off but then again everything was off in Silent Hill. Nodding with a small smile, she agreed with David, they should go out and try to talk to them. Slinging her bag over her shoulder she moved to unlock and open the door.
"Yes I think we should talk to them, being alone in the darkness is never a good idea." she stated with a small hum.

| David wasn't sure if looking human was enough for it being a monster to be counted out. But when he noticed that Absolon relaxed a lot hearing that it looked like they were in the all clear. And, strangely, it seemed that all the creatures had some defining feature that allowed them to know that it was a creature and, by no means, human.
Kind of like someone up there was giving them a bit of a break when it came to fighting back. After all, if they could deceive the humans here then what was to stop them from just wandering in and getting free access to the human settlement,
"Well I hope you're right but from what you've told me, they aren't subtle enough to really be all that bothered with sneaking up to us." he admitted before chuckling a little bit, "Well then... shall we make this into a travelling threesome perhaps?"
Getting his bag over his shoulder and his torch in hand, he opened the door slowly and edged out until he was halfway to the other person. They didn't seem to react. He coughed lightly,
"Hey... hey big guy in the coat." he whispered to her, "It's dangerous, you've got to come back inside with us."
"Do you wanna see?"
The voice, now that he was closer, didn't seem natural at all and he immediately turned to Absolon for confirmation. The figure turned so that it was looking straight at them. Without warning the creature ripped it's coat open, like it was flashing them. Except the entire body was made out of highly and deadly insects. He swallowed a little bit,
"Do we fight or do we run?" he asked her tentatively as the massive number of demon bugs came towards them, all spitting acid, "Absolon... fuck it! Run!"

| Absolon was happy that they might be meeting someone new, a nice new human that they could befriend and maybe they would stay here with her in Silent Hill once David and his daughter Rebecca left. For she was sure that they weren't going to stay here with her, and she didn't know if she would be able to leave at all...hopefully she would be able to when this was all over though, it would be nice not to worry about monsters all the time.
As soon as they stepped out of the hotel room and David called out to the man down the corridor, Absolon felt her little smile of happiness slipping from her face hearing the man talk to them again. That most certainly had an air of forboding about it and she blanched a little bit hearing that he was just repeating the same thing that he had been saying before hand.
Screaming a little bit as the man turned around and showed that it was just an entire coat and hat full of the most horrible bugs she could have ever imagined. As they came to attack her she gripped David's hand in terror and turned to flee.
"Oh my god!" she squeaked "Run! Uhm uhm...where should we go, where should we go?!" she thought aloud her panic becoming rather palpable in the air "I know, we'll go to the diner down the road, okay, so when we get downstairs, make a sharp left turn and keep going until you see it."
Panting softly as she made it to the stairs, Absolon barrelled down them like there was no tomorrow, the scuttling of the bugs behind her spurring her on to run even faster, but she wouldn't leave David behind like that.

| David had to admit that of all the things he had been trying to mentally prepare himself for, a person turning out to be a massive hive of bugs, which would no doubt kill them, was not what he had been expecting. He grimaced as some of the bugs spat out some acid that fell short of both he and Absolon. Oh just marvellous! They could attack from range as well as attempt to eat them alive... could this day get any better he wondered?
Holding Absolon's hand tightly when she gave it to him, he immediately nodded at her decision. Right now running seemed to be their only option. Unless they had picked up a flamethrower when he wasn't paying attention or something,
"The diner?!" he shouted out as he began to run along side her, "Are you sure we can be protected from it there? I... downstairs, left and keep going... got it!"
He flew down the stairs alongside Absolon, jumping most of them and encouraging her to do the same thing. A little bit of acid hit his back and he screamed in pain before using the pain to motivate him to run faster,
"Left now?!" | |
